A. SimplicityCMS is written in
PHP and uses the
MySQL open source database.
A. Simplicity CMS is a web-based application and therefore works through any modern browser. The
WYSIWYG text editor is compatible with
Internet Explorer,
Firefox and
Opera. It uses the
Java plug-in to function so provides excellent cross platform support. This means you can access the system from any location at any time.
A. Simplicity is detected and crawled extremely well by search engines. All pages within the system use search engine safe URLs made up from the domain name followed by a unique path followed by the section title in a URL safe way. For example http://www.example.com/s1/Simplicity-CMS-Software.html. This method helps you use your vital keywords in one of the most important places – the URL. If a section title is changed, the system automatically creates a redirect from the old section to the new one in a way that allows the search engine to automatically update its index and, in the case of Google, is the recommended way to maintain a page's '
PageRank' when renaming it. The same functionality also helps prevent bookmarks that people have stored locally from becoming dead if you decide to rename a section. The system is also able to cope with sections being deleted and greets the user with a friendly 404 error and allows them to browse for a section they were looking for. This is also used to alert search engines to pages that are no longer there and allow them to be automatically removed from their indexes.
A. Yes. Although we offer hosting services for most of our clients we are able to supply Simplicity CMS for use on third party hosting. There are however a few things to consider. Firstly the software requires the free
Zend Optimizer to run, as it is a protect source product. If the hosting is to be on a dedicated server this should be easy to install on the server. However if you are looking for shared hosting you would need to ensure that the hosting provider supports this feature. You will need to check the specific versions of
PHP and
MySQL. The requirements for this are PHP 4.3.2 or above and MySQL 3.23.58 or above. These should easily be found with any good hosting provider. If you are wanting to use the search engine safe URLs then you will also need to be able to set up mod-rewrite rules on your site either through the Apache configuration or via a .htaccess file.
A. No. Simplicity CMS is installed by our technical staff and is set up ready to use. The interface for adding sections and content to your web site is a series of simple web forms to complete in a step by step way. Ease of use is at the heart of Simplicity CMS so everything follows the same step by step format and is very intuitive to use. Text is all edited using the system's
WYSIWYG word processor so no HTML knowledge is needed at any point.
